Litany of Saints is a free, independent guide to the saints and holy men and women of the Catholic Church: every Saint, Blessed, Venerable and Servant of God we can find a record for — 9,575 names so far. It is not an official site of the Holy See.
The Church's own records come first. Beatifications, canonisations, heroic-virtue decrees and approved miracles are taken from the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints (causesanti.va), the Holy See (vatican.va), Vatican News and the religious orders and dioceses that led each cause. Every researched page lists its sources at the foot.
The starting list of names, dates and pictures comes from Wikidata, and the short summaries on pages not yet written up in full are quoted from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0 licence, with a credit on each page. Pictures come from Wikimedia Commons, each credited with its artist and licence.
Where the sources disagree, the page says so rather than choosing one. Where nothing reliable is known — true of many early saints — the page says “Limited information available on this saint” instead of repeating legend as fact.
Each saint on the universal Roman calendar shows two feast days: the current calendar (the Missal of Paul VI) and the calendar of the 1962 Missal.
Once a month the site is checked against the Dicastery's list of newly published decrees, so new Venerables, approved miracles, beatifications and canonisations appear as soon as possible. Last checked: 21 September 2026.
